Paul Pogba highlights the potential impact Aurelien Tchouameni could bring to Manchester United if the club secures his signature from Real Madrid. The French midfielder tops United’s wishlist, with the Spanish champions open to a sale if they secure a replacement like Manchester City’s Rodri, whom president Florentino Perez admires.

Pogba’s Strong Endorsement

Acquiring Tchouameni, a player nearing his prime, signals United’s ambition in midfield reinforcements. The club has eyed other targets, including Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson and Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton.

Pogba, a former United midfielder, knows Tchouameni well from their time together on the French national team, where they won the Nations League in 2021. Pogba praised the then-21-year-old, stating to RTL: “Very, very good. He’s not a boy, he’s a man. It’s a pleasure to play next to him.”

“He brings a lot of energy. A lot of energy, extraordinary technical and physical quality. We wish him to play a lot more games and that I am always by his side.”

Though their international partnership ended soon after, with Pogba last featuring for France in 2022, Tchouameni has become a key figure in Didier Deschamps’ midfield setup.

Varane’s Insights on Life at United

Tchouameni gains perspective on a potential move to Old Trafford from Raphael Varane, who transferred from Real Madrid to United in 2021 after winning 18 trophies in Spain. Despite injury challenges, Varane expressed no regrets during a March appearance on The Bridge podcast with Tchouameni.

Varane told Tchouameni: “Madrid is indescribable, it’s exceptional, but I’ve already experienced it. And I said to myself, ‘I want to experience something else.'”

“For me, England, and Manchester in particular, is where you feel the passion for football. You feel it, you live it every day. Now that some time has passed, I have no regrets because it was an incredible experience.”

United hopes Varane’s experiences resonate with Tchouameni as he weighs his options.
