Tragic Incident in Essex Leads to Murder Accusation

A 12-year-old boy has tragically died from injuries sustained after being struck by a car in Essex. A court has heard that a 15-year-old driver, whose identity is protected by law, and 43-year-old William Lunnon appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, both facing a murder charge in connection with the death of Bobby Bloomfield.

Court Proceedings Detail Alleged Events

Authorities were initially alerted to Ashwells Road in Pilgrims Hatch around 5:40 PM on Sunday following reports of a vehicle colliding with a child. Despite immediate medical attention, Bobby Bloomfield succumbed to his serious injuries in hospital.

During the court hearing, prosecutor Rohini Majumdar presented an account of the events. It is alleged that Bobby and his friends were on private property when Lunnon reportedly approached them and asked them to leave. The prosecution claims the boys fled, but were then pursued by the two defendants in a car, driven by the teenager. The vehicle subsequently struck Bobby. Ms. Majumdar further stated that the teenager then exited the vehicle and allegedly assaulted the boy. The prosecution alleges that both defendants then left Bobby by the roadside.

Defendants Remanded in Custody

William Lunnon, residing on Ashwells Road in Pilgrims Hatch, has been remanded into custody. The 15-year-old defendant has been placed in youth detention accommodation. During the proceedings, the teenager confirmed his date of birth and acknowledged that the case would be transferred to the Crown Court. Lunnon, appearing in a grey prison tracksuit, also confirmed his personal details.

Both individuals are scheduled to appear at Chelmsford Crown Court for an initial hearing on Friday.

Family Mourns Devastating Loss

Earlier this week, Bobby’s grieving family released a statement expressing their profound sorrow. “Losing a child is every parent’s nightmare,” the statement read. “We are living that nightmare and no words can ever explain how we are feeling. Bobby brought light and life into all our lives and we have lost that forever.”

Authorities had previously reported the arrest of two men, aged 65 and 54, and two women, aged 65 and 45, on suspicion of perverting the course of justice in connection with the incident.
