Prominent UK Furniture Retailer Enters Liquidation Amidst Significant Debt
A celebrated United Kingdom-based furniture and home decor company has ceased operations, entering creditors’ voluntary liquidation with outstanding debts exceeding £1.4 million. The Sussex-headquartered business, known for its curated selection of furniture, lighting, and decorative items, formally dissolved on June 1.
Extensive Inventory and European Reach
Pure White Lines Ltd., established in 2012, specialized not only in contemporary high-end furnishings but also in sourcing unique antique and vintage pieces from across Europe. The company maintained a physical presence with showrooms in London and utilized a warehouse facility in Belgium to facilitate its European distribution network. Their commitment to quality and presentation was recognized in 2022 when they received the Best Stand award at the prestigious interior design event, Decorex.
Financial Shortfall Revealed
The company offered luxury items, with chandeliers priced at up to £6,500 and dining tables costing over £4,000. However, financial filings indicate a substantial shortfall. Michael Royce of M.R. Insolvency has been appointed as the liquidator responsible for managing the company’s assets and liabilities.
A statement of affairs filed with Companies House estimates that the sale of the company’s remaining assets will generate approximately £44,853. This figure stands in stark contrast to the total debt of £1,419,237.99 owed to unsecured creditors. These liabilities include significant amounts due to HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC), various suppliers, and other associated businesses. Additionally, Horsham District Council is owed nearly £200,000.
The registered office of Pure White Lines Ltd. is located at The Packing House Orchard Farm, Emms Lane, Bucks Green, Horsham, West Sussex, RH13 0TR.
